This link is where you will find all WCA athletic information. Please check this website daily during the season for additions or changes to your team schedule.
GENERAL WCA ATHLETIC INFORMATION:
Please make sure that your athlete has a current Athletic Medical Form on file with the Athletic Department which will be valid for the duration of the season in which your child is participating. This form must be signed and dated by a physician.
Athletic Medical forms are valid for 12 months. Blank forms can be found under Resource Documents on RenWeb and on our Google athletic website (link is posted above). Many CVS locations have Minute Clinics where a physical can be performed with no appointment required. For more information please visit www.minuteclinic.com. An athlete cannot begin the sports season until this form is completed, signed and dated by a physician, and filed in the athletic department.
Coaches will be given a medical emergency form for each athlete on their team based on the information you have given to the school in your RenWeb account. Coaches will be given a medical emergency form for each athlete on their team based on the information you have given to the school in your RenWeb account. These forms are printed out of RenWeb and contain the same information a teacher would have if your child went on a field trip. To edit your child's medical information in RenWeb, use the "Family Demographic Form" under "Web Forms."
Any uniforms not turned in at the end of the season will result in a fine. At the end of each season, we will have a ceremony/dessert for athletes and their families. Awards will be given out and team pictures will be taken. After pictures are taken, uniforms will be turned in to the coach for the season. If for some reason your child misses this event, they have one week following that date to return their uniform before the fee is assessed.
WE NEED DRIVERS
For some games, the activity bus and the yellow bus will not be available and parent carpools will be necessary. Please let your coach know if an adult in your family is willing to be a driver when possible. Students may not drive other students.
The following are updates that have been made to the RenWeb Calendar:
We are excited to announce our participation with SchoolStore.com, an online shopping mall that links to hundreds of America's best online retail merchants who have agreed to give a percentage of sales to K-12 schools.
To access the merchants, go to www.schoolstore.com. Please make sure to select WCA and bookmark this link and save to your "favorites." Please consider using this opportunity for your regular and gift shopping. It is an easy way to contribute to the school without costing you anything! We encourage you to share the link with your friends and family, too.
With over 400 popular merchants, this program has a lot of potential for donations to WCA from ordinary shopping. A few examples:
Other participants include Advanced Auto Parts, EastBay, UnderArmour, Avis & Budget car rental, Office Depot, Staples, Sams Club, Vista Print, Academic Superstore, Walgreens, REI, Footlocker, Sports Authority, Guitar Center, Starbucks, Omaha Steaks, Harry & David, Home Depot, Kmart, Sears, Target, Walmart & many more!
To access the merchants, go to www.schoolstore.com and select the "merchants" tab at the top.
Our annual Promise Tree Auction will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 6:30 pm. Please plan to join us for a fun-filled evening of food, fellowship, and friendly bidding!
We are accepting auction donations until February 7th. If you would like to donate an item or seek a donation from a business, forms can be found under "Resource Documents" and are available in the 1st Floor Admissions Office. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer in planning this event, please contact Jean Visy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As you make your plans for Christmas, keep in mind that the school discourages the taking of extra days before or after a scheduled vacation and anytime while school is in session. The Parent and Student Handbook states: ...absences for travel must be approved by the Senior Master, Mr. John Mitchell, at least one week prior to the requested day(s). Parents must seek permission in writing (an email will suffice), explaining the nature and length of the absence. Approval will be given based on the nature of the request and the current academic standing of the student.
The end of the Quarter is fast approaching. As noted in our Parent and Student Handbook (posted on RenWeb under Resource Documents) "Punctuality and regular attendance are keys to successful academic achievement." Parents are encouraged to check RenWeb on a regular basis to keep track of your student's attendance record.
In the Middle and Upper Schools, a student's grade for the quarter will be reduced by one point for each unexcused absence from each class. Three unexcused tardy marks for any class will result in a student's quarter grade being reduced by one point in the course. Please note that all tardies, absences and early dismissals, unless excused by the school in advance, are initially recorded as unexcused. A parent may request an excused tardy, absence or early dismissal by contacting the Attendance Office. WCA's attendance policy offers several ways for you to do so. To be sure that the Attendance Office ultimately receives the note, please use one of the following communication options:
A and B Days and Inclement Weather
Middle and Upper School parents and students, please remember that A and B Days do not change or shift in the event of a school closure due to inclement weather. A and B Days remain as stated on the school calendar.
