In this course students will learn the basics of dramatic production and will apply their knowledge by helping with the Upper School play. Class topics will include acting alone and with others, directing and taking direction, playwriting, script analysis, set and costume design, sound and lighting design, and theatre history.
Dramatic arts productions are a regular and exciting feature of school life at Washington Christian Academy. Over the last few years, productions have ranged from Aeschylus’ Antigone to Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing to Vonnegut’s Welcome to the Monkey House. Each year’s play features multiple performances played to capacity crowds, with students not only performing but also serving as the tech and stage crews for all shows.
