Athletics at WCA

Washington Christian Academy (WCA) offers a number of team sports for both Middle and Upper School students every season of the school year. Many of our teams are coached by WCA faculty and staff. WCA teams strive to honor the Lord both on and off the playing field. The majority of our teams compete in the Maryland Independent Schools Athletic League (MISAL).

Mission & Philosophy

Middle School

The WCA Middle School athletics program is an introduction to interscholastic sports. At the Middle School level, it is our goal to provide as much opportunity to participate in the athletic program as possible. The WCA Middle School students are introduced to the philosophy of skill mastery and a life of Christian leadership. Our desire is for as many athletes as possible to have the opportunity to gain experience, hone skills, strengthen character, and mature physically and spiritually while participating in Middle School athletics.

Upper School

Upper School athletics is an integral part of our overall program. The Upper School athletic experience is one that challenges and enables our students to grow spiritually, intellectually, and physically in a manner that complements our school’s broader mission. The athletic mission is to teach our student/athletes the skills, tactics, and strategies of the game which will help them improve as players in a competitive environment. In equal part our ambition is to surround the student/athletes with the biblical virtues that motivate the WCA athlete to pursue technical and tactical mastery in their sport. The virtues we reinforce in our program are biblical and it is our hope that the WCA athlete will grow to see Christ in all of life through their participation and relationships they build with godly men and women.
