Picture a child, small hands, tiny fingers, paper thin nails the size of a freckle, little knuckles turning white as they grip the hand of their mom or dad. They stand outside looking at a doorway into a school they are about to enter for the first time.
Picture that child years later, gown flowing, cap tilted, tassel swaying, knuckles turning white as they grip a diploma and walk across a stage, the final act of their high school career.
Picture that child as you. Think about all that happened in your life from that moment at the doorway to that moment on the stage. How important were those years in shaping your life? How have they colored how you look at yourself, at others, at life, at God? For most of us, those were the most formative years of our lives, and we have lived all of our days since them in response to them.
Picture a new generation of children standing at that doorway headed for that stage, children embarking on their most formative years, the years that will shape all of their future days, and, therefore, all of the days of their children after them.
Now picture an opportunity to create the place where those children will spend those years. That is what we are inviting you to do, to join with us in shaping the place that will shape the lives of our children. How? By investing generously in Washington Christian Academy.
The truth is the mind and heart of a child are shaped only once. Once formed, they become the governors of all a child will think and feel and do and say as an adult. We get one opportunity, one shot, at molding the life of that child. We must do it right the first time. There will be no second chance. We know how important those years from the doorway to the stage are. We only have to remember.
By God’s grace, we can, indeed, build the kind of place where we want our children to spend those critical years. Imagine the future you want for those children, and then join with us in turning that dream into a reality.
